Vespa To Soon Launch A New Electric Scooter In India!

The electric Vespa is hoped to be highly competent in terms of performance and range

Well in keeping with the earlier rumours suggesting the same, Piaggio India CEO and MD, Diego Graffi has now revealed that they are aiming to launch a new electric scooter in the country under Vespa badge. The upcoming scooter will be inspired by the company’s international electric offering, the Elettrica, revived to suit Indian market demands.

Since the company isn’t interested in sourcing parts from outside vendors, Piaggio will be setting up a suitable powertrain for India. This indicates that the launch could be further delayed but will still be helpful in the long run. The scooter would probably be equipped with a brushless DC motor rated at 6bhp of power and 200 Nm of torque, similar to the one that drives the international model, Elettrica.

Vespa Elettrica comes with a plethora of features including two riding modes, a TFT instrumentation with Bluetooth connectivity and voice commands enabled, full LED lighting, chrome accents and alloy wheels. Though not sure yet, this set of features are expected to make it into the Indian model too.

Vespa will probably unveil the scoter by mid-2021 and the product will go on sale by 2022. There aren’t any indications on prices yet but going by the Vespa fashion, the EV won’t come cheap either.
