TVS-BMW Motorrad Partnership To Expand, New Electric Bike Coming in Two Years

BMW Motorrad and TVS will work closely on the development of the EV

TVS and BMW Motorrad have announced that their ongoing partnership in India will expand and will soon enter the EV space. Under the new EV partnership, BMW Motorrad and TVS will introduce a new all-electric motorcycle in two years. TVS will work on design, development, and supply chain management for future BMW Motorrad products.

Built on the same platform, the product will be sold globally as different products under the respective brand names. BMW Motorrad had first entered into a partnership with TVS early in 2013, to manufacture entry-level motorcycles for India and the global market.

The collaboration of the companies saw BMW Motorrad enter the sub-500 cc motorcycle market in India with two products – a streetfighter (BMW G310 R) and an entry-level ADV (BMW 310 GS). TVS had then rolled out a faired sports bike named TVS Apache RR310 with the same mechanicals.

Talking of business, BMW Motorrad saw a 100% year-on-year growth in 2021 after delivering 5000 units this year, of which 90% of bikes sold were the baby 310s.
