The Porsche Macan S 0-60 Comes In Just 5.1 Seconds, Too Obsessed With Breath-Taking Performance!

The Macan S gets an all new 3.0 l Turbo V6 petrol mill under its hood !

Don’t you overwhelm with adrenaline-induced ecstasy when we tell you the all new Porsche Macan S 0-60 sprint happens in just 5.1 seconds,  as under the hood of this hot-rod compact performance crossover is an all new three liter turbocharged V6 petrol engine, that is further beefed up by the presence of a gasoline particulate filter, which in turn has helped in the effective optimization of the fuel economy and CO2 emissions as well. This mill does a job worth an applause in delivering a healthy 260 kW (354 PS) of power and 480 Nm of torque. If you could recollect, that is a leap of around 10 kW (14 PS) and 20 Nm from the previous model making the new car 0.1 seconds faster on the tarmac ! The new Porsche  Macan S has a thrilling top speed of 158 mph (254kmph)

The new V6 mill has a central turbo layout, with the turbocharger being located in the inner V. This provides for short exhaust gas paths between the combustion chamber and the turbo, thus rendering the time gap for response a tad too nominal. The new twin spool trubocharger further spices up the performance by providing high torque at low engine speeds. The twin scroll tech onboard makes sure that the exhaust gas flows are continuously fed to the turbo . the combustion chamber geometry has also had significant efforts put into it at the time of designing and has a central injector for efficient synthesis of fuel mixture. Owing to all these innovations in tech and stuff under the hood, the SUV has had great reductions in its emissions too.

We aren’t done talking on the mechanical innovations yet. The Porsche Macan’s chassis, overhauled and optimized for the new model, features staggered tyres and Porsche Traction Management (PTM) four-wheel drive system. The front axles get Aluminum springs instead of Steel ones. Besides these, The new alloy design has also improved the steering and ride comfort on the new Macan. The Porsche Active Stability Management (PASM) active damper control system, height-adjustable air suspension with optimized rolling pistons and new shock absorber hydraulics and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) have all been retained in the optional goodies list of the new model as well.

To put up with the increased power and performance of the SUV, the Macan’s brakes too have undergone significant tweaks. The new pedal is 300g less than the previous one and gets a shortened lever arm connecting it with the brake master cylinder, thus ensuring a more immediate brake response and more precision in the sense of pressure point for the driver. The Macan S gets larger front brake discs, with disc diameter increased by 10 mm to 360 mm, and thickness by 2 mm to 36 mm. The brake pads have done away with the use of copper now. An optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) is also on offer.
