Mahindra XUV 700 Prototype Rams Into Bike; Angry Biker Peels Off Camo Revealing Deep Maroon Colour and Logo.

XUV 700, the first of the 9 upcoming SUVs from Mahindra is said to launch soon.

Mahindra has been actively testing the all-new XUV700, which is a 7 seater SUV that’s believed to be launched in a few weeks from now. It will be the first of the 9 upcoming SUVs from the carmaker. Recently, a prototype of XUV700 hit a biker while driving down from Mount Abu and in the high rage scene that followed, the angry biker peeled off the camo revealing a new deep maroon colour and the Mahindra logo. It was a video that surfaced online (credits to Pranav Nath & DJ Varun/Motor Beam) that publicized this incident. It was earlier rumoured that the new SUV will come with the new Mahindra logo, which however, was not the case with this prototype.

The XUV 700 is Mahindra’s upcoming flagship model that would replace the XUV 500 upon launch. There’s been speculation that the new XUV700 will have heavily upgraded feature lists and stronger engines than the XUV 500. The new model will be produced at Mahindra’s manufacturing plant in Chakan, near Pune.

Auto Booster Headlamps Will Change The Game

One of the most significant features expected on the XUV replacement is its “Auto Booster Headlamps” (a revolutionary tech that has an extra light turned on automatically, once the vehicle goes past 80 kph at night). The official teaser video that Mahindra had released earlier shows the car with and without this feature, for the viewers to get a hold of the difference.

This feature comes as an advantage when the vehicle is going past the speed limit at night and in scenarios in which it’s hard to see with just the headlights, the additional lights will help in spotting oncoming vehicles or obstacles on the road. It is also to be noted that the Auto Booster system is capable of showing things from a farther distance, giving the driver enough time to react according to the situation.

Other features include a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, a powered driver seat, sportscar-styled smart door handles and connected car tech. It would also come with level 1 Autonomous Technology- ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistant System) and safety features such as front and curtain airbags, autonomous emergency braking and cruise control. ABS, EBD, ESP and ISOFIX would be standard.

Expected Mechanicals

There would be two engine options for the XUV700- a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine (expected to deliver 200 hp) and a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine (expected to deliver about 185 hp). There would be two transmission options as well; a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The highest variant will also be coming with AWD and the standard as a FWD vehicle. There’s also speculation that an electrified powertrain would join on a later date.
