Lamborghini Huracan EVO RWD Spyder Launched In India At INR 3.54 Crore

The first Huracan EVO RWD Spyder for India has been delivered in the gorgeous shade of Blu Sideris

Lamborghini India has launched the much anticipated Huracan EVO RWD Spyder in the country with a base ex-showroom tag of INR 3.54 crore around its shoulders. With the RWD Spyder in, Lamborghini currently has four different iterations of the Huracan nameplate on sale here- Huracan EVO, EVO Spyder, EVO RWD, and the EVO RWD Spyder. The first unit for India has reached its owner in a magnificent shade of Blu Sideris.

Huracan EVO RWD Spyder: What Is So Special About It?

As obvious from the name, the EVO RWD Spyder is the soft-top convertible version of the previously launched Huracan EVO RWD. The key talking point of this car is thus, the wind-in-the-hair experience it offers with the top down. The fabric roof is quite smart in operation and takes around 17 odd seconds to deploy or retract. The roof can be operated at speeds of upto 50kmph, claims Lamborghini. The rear windsheild can be electrically operated by the driver upon will, so as to get the desired audio track- that of the in car entertainment or the massive V10!

Design

The overall design of the Huracan RWD Spyder has clear cues in it to stand out from the Huracan EVO AWD Spyder that is already on sale here. The RWD Spyder gets a new front splitter, larger vertical fins within the front air intakes, a new rear diffuser, 19 inch Kari wheels shod with specially developed Pirelli P Zero rubber and more. You could definitely spot design similarities with the Huracan EVO RWD Coupe, launched sometime back…

Cockpit

Much like its Coupe brother, the Huracan EVO RWD Spyder comes with a highly livable cabin. There are all moden-day tech and gizmos including an 8.4 inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivities integrated into it. The cabin colour and trim options can , of course be customized further through the Lamborghini Ad Personam program.

Specifications

The Lamborghini Huracan EVO RWD Spyder comes built on a lightweight hybrid chassis and has a body finished in Aluminium and thermoplastic resin. Even with the fabric roof and its hydraulic folding mechanism in place, the EVO RWD Spyder is just 120 kilos heavier than the RWD coupe, with a dry wright of 1,509 kilograms. This, as a matter of fact, is quite impressive for a car of this kind.

The RWD Spyder is powered by Lamborghini’s 5.2L V10 engine churning out 610 hp and 560 Nm, channeled to the rear wheels alone via a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The 0-100 kmph sprint happens in 3.5 seconds, a time that is 0.2 seconds slower than that of the RWD Coupe and 0.4 seconds slower than the EVO AWD Spyder. 200 kmph speed can be achieved in 9.6 seconds and the top speed of the car is a good 324 km/h. The RWD Spyder has a weight-to-power ratio of 2.47 kg/hp, something that plays a key role in this tempting performance.

The car comes with three different driving modes- Strada, Corsa and Sport, which can be toggled using the ANIMA button on the steering wheel. Should you wish to know, the SPORT is the most exciting of these, where you can push the car hard, drift and slide it and have lot of fun, but without the fears of a crash ! Thanks be to the RWD and the intelligent tech onboard which monitor the torque and oversteer angles and adapts automatically.

You Won’t Find These On The RWD Spyder!

The Huracan EVO RWD Spyder ditches some familiar equipment and technologies of the nameplate for various reasons. The car gets no rear wheel steering, much like its coupe sibling. Plus, the standard package now ditches the adaptive dampers, carbon ceramic brakes, parking sensors and nose lift function, which can now be had only as optional extras.

Price

Lamborghini has, we would say, nailed it with the pricing of this car. The Huracan RWD convertible has a base price of 3.54 crore in the country, just a 32 lakh premium over the coupe. The RWD Spyder is significantly cheaper than the Huracan EVO AWD Spyder which is selling for around 4.10 crore, ex-showroom. Even with the AWD system and a few other pieces of equipment shaved off, the Huracan EVO RWD Spyder makes for a fairly VFM offering. The car would have its key competition from the Ferrari Portofino, which is currently the marque’s entry-level convertible, selling for 3.5 crores ex-showroom.
