Kia Seltos EV Coming This Year!

The Kia Seltos EV will not come to India though. Kia Motors is targetting the Chinese markets with this product…

KIA Seltos Ev has been in the rumors for quite some time now and there are now official words that it is going to be launched in the global market this year. KIA Seltos has been a huge hit in India and an electric vehicle from the line up is highly anticipated as the competition is getting fierce with Tata Nexon EV and Hyundai Kona here.

It is surprising to see that KIA has no plans to launch it for the Indian roads. Instead, it will be launched for the Chinese market. It will be launched as the next generation KIA KX3 there. The current KIA KX3 EV runs with a 45.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack as standard. This battery powers a motor producing 111ps of peak power and 285Nm torque. The top speed is 150 km/h and the energy consumption rating is 16.4 kWh/100 km. The battery offers a range of 300 Km.

The next-gen KIA KX3 will be offered in standard and long-range variants like the Hyundai KONA EV with the same motor and specifications. The standard Hyundai KONA EV has a 39.2 kWh Lithium-ion battery and it’s electric motor produces 136 PS and 395 Nm with a range of 312 Km and energy consumption of 13.9 kWh/100 km. The long-range Hyundai Kona EV, however, has a 64.2 kWh lithium-ion battery. Its electric motor is tuned to generate 204 PS of maximum power and 395 Nm of maximum torque. The battery in this variant can provide a range of 482 Kms and 14.3 kWh/100 km energy consumption.

Reports suggest that the production of Seltos EV is likely to kick start in this august with a plan to manufacture 10,000 units annually. Indian market will be getting two more models from KIA instead of the Seltos EV. KIA India will be launching KIA Sonet this August and a compact MPV in 2021.
