Dakar 2022: Hero Motorsports Names Riders For Its 6Th Consecutive Dakar

Hero Motorsports hopes to exhibit storming performance this year

Hero MotoSports Team Rally has announced its team for the upcoming Dakar Rally 2022 in Saudi Arabia. The team will compete in the 2022 season with Argentine rider Franco Caimi and Portuguese rider Joaquim Rodrigues. This is the 6th consecutive time that the Indian team is taking part in Dakar. The duo will be riding Hero 450 Rally bikes, which now offer improved top speed and acceleration.

The team had to choose different riders for Dakar 2022 after its riders Sebastian Buhler and C.S. Santosh, suffered injuries in the previous races. 26-year-old Buhler from Portugal won the Hungarian Baja 2021 but had to withdraw from Dakar after an unfortunate injury at the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge. C.S. Santhosh, the ace Indian rider, is still recovering from the crash in the previous Dakar.

Hero Rally team is in an upbeat mood into the run-up to the Dakar. Both the riders made it to the podium in the Silk Way Rally and Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, with Rodrigues, placed himself in the fourth overall in the FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship 2021.

The Dakar rally kicks off in Saudi Arabia on January 1. Dubbed the toughest in the world, it will see 12 stages unfold in 14 days, before culminating on January 14, in Jeddah.
