Michelin India’s Arun Jaura Joins Hero Motocorp As CTO

The new leadership is hoped to spawn extensive technical innovations in the future

Hero Motocorp has appointed ex- Michelin, tech leader Dr. Arun Jaura as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Jaura will report directly to Dr. Pawan Munjal, the chairman, and CEO of Hero. The move comes in as part of Hero’s vision- ‘Be the Future of Mobility’. The manufacturer has recently been focussing extensively on its R&D and revamped the existing portfolio with some key feature updates. Hero’s key R&D was led by Vikram Kasbekar for the past few years. Kasbekar will now support Arun on future assignments.

Dr. Jaura has had a glorious track in the technology sphere. His most recent role was at Michelin India’s technology center (2017-2021), where he had led the R&D and the sustainability functions. He had started his career with DRDO in 1982 and currently has over four decades of experience in the automotive tech sphere.

Dr. Jaura has an engineering background, with an M-Tech from IIT Madras, and a Ph.D. in Robotics and AI for Smart manufacturing, from Concordia University, Montreal. He has over the years worked with many big names like Ford Motor Co. (USA), Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M), and Eaton Corporation. He has even established a mobility-focused consulting company under the name TRAKTION. He had also led the team that developed the world’s first-ever Hydrogen-Hybrid vehicle, associating with the Department of Energy in the US.

In other industry news, Hero’s company secretary and Chief Compliance Officer Ms Neerja Sharma would move out of the organization later this month. In her Stint at HMC, she had exhibited good performance at corporate governance and diversity & inclusion.
