Volvo Adds Cheaper Less Equipped Momentum Trims To XC60 And S90!

 The S90 and XC60 D4 get cheaper by about 7 lakhs !

Volvo has a good news for all, but before we tell you more on the same, please be informed that this piece was first reported by Autocar India as an exclusive story, earlier today.

The mighty XC60 SUV and the charmingly luxurious S90 sedan have just gotten massive chop offs on their price tags !

Erstwhile available in just one fully loaded trim, the S90 is one such sedan that has managed to redefine the brand’s profile in its respective segment, within a notably short span of time. Taking into account, the high potential of this sedan, Volvo has now given it a second trim.

Placed below the top spec D4 Inscription variant, this new trim gets a grille finished in Piano Black, circular exhaust tips and 18 inch alloy in a simpler design and misses out on front seat ventilation and massage functions, foldable rear seats, rear sunshade, the Bowers and Wilkins sound system, hands-free tailgate opening function and heads up display of the Inscription trim.

With 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, brake assist, hill start assist, Isofix seat anchorages and adaptive cruise control with pilot assist, safety remains almost as good as it is in the higher trim. (‘Almost’ because the ‘Momentum’ comes devoid of the blind spot assist).  The car has the same 190 hp, 2.0 litre D4 diesel engine and 8 speed automatic box from the higher trim and is thus mechanically unchanged. Missing here would be the Inscription’s air suspension and bits like paddle shifters and driver modes.

At INR 51.90 lakhs, the S60 Momentum is a hefty 7 lakhs cheaper than the Inscription and will from now, take on the likes of Mercedes E Class, BMW 5 Series, Jaguar XF and Audi A6 better.

The story is almost the same for XC60 as it was so far available only in the top-spec D5 Inscription trim, but now gets a cheaper, less equipped D4 momentum trim as well.

As the name suggests, Momentum gets a 190hp/400Nm 2.0 litre diesel instead of the 235 hp/480 Nm configuration of the other car. All wheel drive and the 8 speed box are retained but the Momentum misses out on air suspension, bigger wheels, chrome grille, ventilated seats, heating, massage functions blind spot mirror, 360 degree parking camera, auto parking system, heads up display and the Bowers and Wilkins audio system. Yes you do get adaptive cruise control with Pilot Assist, front and rear parking sensors, LED headlights and DRLs, a panoramic sunroof, digital instrument panel and the 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system on this car.

Around 7 lakhs cheaper than the standard SUV, the XC60 Momentum retails at INR 52.90 lakhs.
