Datsun Redi Go Facelift Revealed!

A Kerala-based YouTube channel has released a bunch of exclusive pictures of the Datsun Redi Go facelift online…

We haven’t heard much about the Datsun Redi Go in a while. In fact, there have even been rumours of Nissan pulling the plug on the Datsun brand in India! However, the carmaker had teased the upcoming Datsun Redi Go facelift last week, putting an end to all such stories. Now, Pilot On Wheels, a Kerala based YouTube channel has come up with a bunch of exclusive images of the Redi-Go facelift. Here is everything we know about this so far…

The Redi GO, if you might remember, had come built on the same platform as the Renault Kwid. Even though it came with a choice of two engine options (0.8L and 1.0L) and even an AMT transmission, the Redi Go had been much scorned for things like the poor interior quality, primitive infotainment system, equipment deficiency, poor NVH levels, vulnerable safety etc. All these seem to have been fixed in the facelift. We will talk about the same in a while.

The design has had tremendous improvements altogether. There is now a much wider grille up front and stylish L-shaped LED DRLs. The headlamps have been redrawn to look more contemporary. The fog lamps have made way for LED units and so have the taillights. The wheels have been upgraded to 14-inch units with two-tone wheel covers.

The cabin seems to have had many leaps ahead in terms of look and feel. It is no more the rough-looking, lack-lustre unit of the previous car. There are silver and gun metal grey accents adorning the dash, which gets a shade of black for itself. The 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system has Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto connectivities and even voice recognition to boast off.

Safety on the RediGo facelift has also been improved. The use of high tensile metal has provided for added safety during collisions. The car gets dual airbags, ABS and EBD as standard offerings across the range. On the mechanical front, there will be the same 0.8L and 1.0L engines, but in theirBS6 guise, doing the jobs. The top-end variant would also get the familiar AMT transmission.

The channel reports that Datsun will begin taking in bookings for the car on May 15, 2020.
